LAN Party - Saturday, April 23, 7pm-2am

  • Food
    • Lisa has secured $150 from SAC
      • half for pizza
      • half at Genuardi's for chips, cookies, pizza, paper plates
    • Lisa will get a "Happy Birthday, FreeCulture.org" cake from Sharples
  • Equipment
    • Alex will make web form to schedule equipment pickups
    • David B. has secured Erik Cheever's permission to borrow Engineering TVs
      • we should get a second projector from Media Services
      • we won't bother trying to borrow their TVs
    • David B. has also lined up DDR pads and a PS/2
    • Other things we might like: Gamecube, old Nintendo
    • People should label their equipment, especially cables
  • Prop
    • Alex and Andrew have made the second set of cryptic signs
      • 50-100 to be hung each Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday
    • Signs with all the information will be hung Monday through party day
    • Large sign outside of party room

Open Access

  • Lisa has talked to Peggy Seiden, who is really busy this week but free next
    • Will attempt to schedule a meeting for Wed. 4-20
      • discuss survey for faculty
        • Lisa will make a final draft
        • survey will be distributed via dept. chairs, returned to McCabe
        • to be distributed through dept. chairs
      • find out Library Board's thoughts on Budapest Initiative
  • any serious progress on Open Access should be postponed to next semester
    • continue planning through the summer

Ride the Tide

  • Activities Fair is 11:30-1 on Friday the 22nd
  • Table will be set up for us
  • We will distribute FC.o pamphlet - prop team will see to it
  • Nelson will have EFF goodies and CC tattoos
    • Lisa will supply washcloths for tattoo application

Long Term Plan

  • Kako will be sent the Long Term bullet points
  • Kako was denied tenure, but will be here through next year
    • We should start thinking about advisors for the following year onward - Burke?

Plans for Next Semester

  • DJ Spooky
    • Cooper Grant gave us $3500 for a lecture
    • would be willing to give an unspecified amount more for a performance
    • Rebirth of a Nation would be $30,000 - too much?
    • Luke will try to negotiate with both Cooper and DJ Spooky's manager
  • distributing Swat-produced content under Free licenses
    • record events to make human connection and inspire people
    • acquire maintain server for distributing recordings locally
