Review of Agenda Items
OpenAccess
- Rebekah has made fantastic progress in getting OpenAccess supported by the folks at Bryn Mawr
Theater department
- Nelson got a great response from the theater department when interviewing people for his recent Phoenix article
- unfortunately, they hadn't heard of us at all beforehand
- they have had copyright issues with lots of things they do, such as dance steps, adaptations of plays to suit the cast, etc.
James Michener
- donated his works to the College
- he is declining in cultural relevance; few young people have heard of him
- it's clear the College needs to revitalize interest
- they have planned some event for 2007 in order to do this
- we should do something when this happens
- Nelson, Rebecca, others will meet with Tim Burke in order to discuss getting support from the history department
Propaganda
Eric will join Ben and Alex on propaganda this year
Discovery Weekend
Rob will start working on organizing something for Discovery weekend; perhaps a movie showing
Media Server
Luke and Erek will work on this project
Library
- All we need to do to get CC-d books in library is to give them a list; they will buy them and put them on the shelves for us
- unfortunately, we haven't had the time or initiative to do this yet
- Rebecca will help work on this project
- There is apparently a list of books for the library somewhere on the Wiki, but its location seems to be evasive
- Searching the wiki by expected keywords (library, commons, etc) has proven fruitless, so I went ahead and created a new booklist wiki page, Creative_Commons_Book_List. If anyone finds the original page, I'd love it if they could integrate the two lists. --Erek (7 Sep 2005)
Next Week's Meeting
- Nelson will be absent (speaking at Duke about Diebold)
- Ben Blonder will facilitate
- Alex Benn will take minutes
